Joyce Jones has been a resident of Overton since 1953, and member of the Moapa Valley Art Guild since 1960. She is a Guild Past President and has served in numerous positions and on many committees through the years. She helped acquire and catalogue the MVAG Permanent Art Collection which is currently displayed at the Old Logandale School.

She is also a long-time member of the Nevada Watercolor Society and was privileged to have a painting accepted in the Las Vegas Millennium Show which took place in June 2005. She has also taken workshops from well-known artists through the Nevada Watercolor Society and the Moapa Valley Art Guild.

            Her work was shown at the Art Guild Gallery in Overton during its operation. She has participated in the Pomegranate Art Festival as well as showing regularly at the Lost City Museum in Overton, the Valley of Fire State Park Visitor Center Gallery, and the Clark County Artist Show in Boulder City, NV.

She was awarded Best of Show/Grand Champion at the Clark County Fair in April of 2000. Recently, Joyce’s watercolor of the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort was selected for the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration Art Exhibit sponsored by the Nevada Watercolor Society.

Joyce is a graduate of Moapa Valley High School. She is married to Doug Jones and has three children, Richard, Cheryl (Burrows) and Larry. She also has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Joyce earned her degree in General Banking through Clark County Community College. She retired from Bank of America after working at the Moapa Valley branch for 25 years.

Joyce paints largely in watercolor, but also enjoys pencil drawing and pen and ink sketching. She loves to paint local landscapes on location as well as still life subjects. Her paintings hang in homes and businesses locally and throughout the United States.
